Roy Brooke of Brooke and Associates is acting as Director of the Municipal Natural Assets Initiative, in close collaboration with the Town of Gibsons, Sustainable Prosperity, the David Suzuki Foundation, Asset Management BC and other partners.  The project is now in its implementation phase with 5 national pilot project municipalities that are exploring how to integrate the value of the services provided by natural assets into their core business strategies. 


Advancing an urban natural capital strategy

The Town of Gibsons, B.C. has just launched "Towards an Eco-Assets Strategy," which describes the Town's pioneering approach to integrating natural assets into the DNA of municipal decision-making.  Brooke & Associates is supporting the Town in the development of this strategy, which is available on the Town's website.


global norms for disaster risk reduction

A new global agreement to accelerate national-level disaster risk reduction was  finalized in March 2015 as the United Nations hosted the World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan.  Brooke & Associates supported UNISDR in research & analysis to support the United Nations' approach, including on documents requested by the UN General Assembly..
